Direct Fired Thermal Oxidizer Systems
An ideal solution for high solvent and variable operating conditions, CCS&ES direct fired thermal oxidizer (DFTO), or afterburner, systems achieve more than 99% hydrocarbon destruction efficiency. Less expensive than other types of thermal oxidizers such as regenerative thermal oxidizers, direct fired thermal oxidizers employ the simplest thermal oxidization technology for efficient destruction.
Direct fired thermal oxidizers are similar in function to recuperative thermal oxidizers, with recuperative systems including the addition of heat recovery at the end of the discharge end of the combustion chamber.
How Direct Fired Thermal Oxidizer Systems Work
Often called an enclosed flare or vapor combustor, direct fired thermal oxidizers draw polluted air streams into a turbulent and specially designed heated burner chamber. The unit oxidizes the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) in a safe and efficient manner. Yielding carbon dioxide and water vapor, the exhaust gas is now safe to enter the atmosphere, or serve as an optional heat recovery system. Providing safe operation, CCS&ES afterburners minimize risk of explosion and auxiliary fuel needs.
